Kudokai
After teaching Martial Arts for over 50 years, Kancho Noriyasu Kudo developed his own style of karate known as Sui Shin Ryu. This style is based upon traditional Martial Arts values including dedicated training and mutual respect. The techniques found in Sui Shin Ryu Karate are practical, effective, and designed for everyone of all ability levels.
Sui Shin Ryu Karate emphasizes dedicated, hard training, allowing one to develop in both body and spirit. Students are pushed to their limits but done so in an open, respectful environment.
Kancho Kudo emphasizes the importance of basic technique. Classes also include bag work, drills, as well as "Sabaki". The term Sabaki refers to avoiding an attack and moving to a position where one cannot be hit but is able to down the opponent. Students are able to practice this alone or with a partner. Sui Shin Ryu students also participate in sparring. This is done without the use of pads or gloves, providing for a more realistic training method. With this, sparring is always done in a safe, supervised manner.
Kancho Noriyasu Kudo is the Chief Instructor of Sui Shin Ryu. Classes are also taught by Shihan Rick Flebotte in the Ludlow, MA area and Sensei Chris Broughton in the Springfield, MA area.
